Last Saturday, 8th November, we brought Spot to be neutered at a vet clinic. A couple days after the operation, a hard lump appeared on the right side of his lower body beside the stitches. About three days later, my dad came home and pushed open the gate that crashed into poor Spot’s body. I don't think the crash helped the lump get smaller. Spot started limping and he didn’t want to eat or drink. He also vomited sometimes.
We brought him to the vet again on Friday, 14th November. He had a fever. The vet gave him some injections and told us that Spot had edema which caused the swelling and inflammation. The vet claimed that the operation was a perfect one and blamed it on the gate crash. But the lump was already there one day after the operation (says my mom) so my mom blames it on the vet and scolded me for telling the vet that my dad crashed the gate into Spot. Ah well, she can scold me all she likes…as long as she continues to cook my meals for me. Anyway, the vet told us to increase his glucose and give Spot whatever he wanted to eat.
On Saturday, 15th November, Spot was still moping and sulking around. He still refused water and food. At night, when I went out to play with him, I took some honey (from someone’s wedding) and rubbed it on his gums (was experimenting around). I’m pretty sure it won’t kill him since all it does is raise blood sugar (and it's nice to eat anyway).
Later that night, my mom threw out a biscuit into the carpark to make Lara jealous of the dogs outside getting food. Lara plays hard to feed when it comes to meal times. You have to poke the food in her mouth, let her spit it out, poke it back in, and she must be hand fed although she occasionally eats by herself when it’s raw or if my brother is the one training her to eat. Anyway, the good way to make her hurry up and eat is by making her jealous of the dogs outside who eat like crazy when they see food.
When the biscuit flew out, I thought I heard a chewing and cracking sound (although it may have been my imagination running wild) but I got some biscuits and broke them into small pieces and hallelujah, Spot ate them. Mom came out and fed him a cheese stick and now, he’s back to his old way of eating which snapping the food out of your hand (sometimes, he bites your hand in the process).
The lump is still there for now but I’ll keep you guys updated.
