9th July.
I flew 650km over the South China Sea to West Malaysia (specifically Kuala Lumpur) to send my my sister to Cheras and leave her there to get her teaching degree. The flight was okay. A tad bit stinky and we had the cheap AirAsia flight so we didn't even land in the KLIA. Instead, we landed in the LCCT (Low Cost Carrier Terminal).
We stayed at my uncle's flat for a little more than 3 days.
KL always has traffic jams. And don't believe anyone when he/she says that a certain place is near because it is NEVER EVER EVER near. Never. A 10 minute ride in KL would turn into a half hour ride and sore butts will be unavoidable. We were late for our first dinner by half an hour. The only times when you can reach a place deemed near without any jam is when it's 3 in the morning. And only siao lang (crazy people) go out to makan at those times.
10th July.
I don't think we got to do much this day. I stayed at the flat with May and stared at fish while the other people went off on a long journey just to eat some exotic type of mee. Dad came to get us for lunch (he actually forgot about us). We ate good beef murtabak, roti milo and roti bomb. After eating em, dad read the will of our Uncle Vincent who just recently passed away. He was a really nice uncle. A treasure hunter too!
We then went to Cheras to check the place out with a husband and wife (sorta forgot their names) and they were very very hospitable. The wife's mother gave me many packets of Tong Garden's cashewnuts and pistachios and I randomly gave one packet to a stranger.
We walked and walked and walked. I bought a new pair of not-really-shoes shoes. One new pair a year, not bad huh. And then when we wanted to go back to the flat which was located in Sunway, transport was a teeny bit of a problem. We were in KL Sentral.
A taxi driver offered us a ride for RM22. Dad rejected his offer. Too expensive to us Kuchingnites.
Bought KTM commuter train tickets instead. RM2. Great deal! KTM spoiled in Sentul (half an hour from KL Sentral which is half an hour from Sunway).
We went back to find a taxi. Dad thought that the taxi drivers by the roadside would give us a cheaper ride than the earlier RM22.
Offer: RM40. Who was he trying to cheat huh?
We started to walk away. Taxi driver tries to negotiate. RM30 okay? VERY not okay. xD Eventually we took the RM22 ride and arrived at the flat safely.
In the KL Sentral building, there was this group of people looking for "New Talents" in acting, singing and whatever. I just applied for acting and they told me they'd call me up in a couple weeks and that I'd have to go to their studio somewhere in big ol' KL to audition. Fat chance because Imma fly home in 2 days, I said (I said it more politely). xD
11th July.
Pasar Seni! Midvalley Megamall! Met my brother after 5 months!
Got stuff at Pasar Seni for my friends. A custom made name badge for my best friend after May Yap who is no other than Anna Rachel Dawson aka Female Head Prefect in our school!!! She totally deserves that post. Just that I don't get to talk to her much anymore (except maybe Fridays?) and I sometimes act brokenhearted by blaming the school for 'taking her'. xD
Got a shirt which says "I see DUMB people" for Andrew Goh. He still has a little more slimming down to go before that shirt can fit him comfortably. But now, at least he has something to show to people who GOHsip.
Got a stainless steel ring way too big for my finger for myself and had my first name engraved on it. Really cool. Was debating in my mind about getting a dog tag instead (that was more expensive, so yeah). I wanted to use it as a necklace but mreh, it's too fat, won't work. So, haha, perhaps one day, I will give it that one
On to Midvalley Megamall. Because of my sister, the first place in Megamall that we went to was the Women's Department for clothes. Bought one green long sleeved shirt. One per year. Still good and thrifty. Accidentally tripped the security alarm at the doorway because I went a little too near the metal detectors. And I hadn't paid yet for that shirt so yeah. The guard was nice and understanding though. =]
Then on I go to the dratted Pets Wonderland. As much as I condemn and detest pet shops (and some of their ignorant workers) I still like to look at the animals (especially the dogs) inside. But there was a little feline surprise that day.
Exotic Tortie Cat
RM1800
Imported from Austrailia
Exotic huh. I can find a tortoiseshell cat on the streets of Kuching if you want. I talked to one worker about the misleading term and he had no idea how 'rare' that cat was so I told him to tell his boss but he didn't really care. I went to the counter and asked if the person there knew anything about cats at all. The person said that it was exotic because it has some breeder's papers and I replied with "Those stuff ain't no big deal". Papers are no big deal and just because an animal is registered doesn't mean that it should be sold for such a price. Tortoiseshell cats are not rare or exotic. I see them pretty much everywhere. Even Angeline had one before too.
Anway back on the topic.
Then I went down some elevators and saw two men in a box acting as robots, promoting some scientific lip balm laboratory thing. Pretty good ones too. I just loved catching them breath and blink because they are humans after all (I am mean like that). xD
We bought tickets to go into the KTM commuter train from Megamall to Subang but it was really packed to the last inch. A dude even nudged my sister away before the train even came to a stop. Meanie. You lucky I didn't box your ears for edging my sister outta the way.
So in the end, we had to line up for a taxi. We got a talkative taxi driver by the name of Alitan bin Laiman. Him and dad had a good chat. And why was his name Alitan? Because he's a Baba Nyonya. Ali is a Malay name, Tan is his momma's name, Laiman is short form for Sulaiman, his pops. So it's Alitan bin Laiman.
And on this day, I met my brother. The first second he walked into the house where we were, tears appeared at my eyes but dried up quickly. Ahh, it was nice to meet my brother eventhough we didn't talk much. Nothing much to say. I hope this doesn't happen to me and May. Ee Wen (my cousin who can speak Japanese, German, Spanish, English, Malay, Chinese and whatever) gave me quite a bit of advise and some sort of counselling. So pro man. She has a Masters in Psycology. Ha. xD
12th July.
This is the day that May leaves us. But she has to register at Pendidikan Teknik first. That's where she's gonna be staying for the next five long years. And how long did the registering take?
THREE LONG HOURS. I wasted 3 hours of my life because of the inefficiency of certain government servants.
First they say you need three copies of this item and when you get there, you magically need five copies! And no one ever said that one had to wear baju kurung to registration, so pops and aunty had to go box diggin' to get the clothes and shoes for May. Troublesome.
Plus, I didn't get to go skating.
But I did wash poop and wash algae-filled dog water bowls. They don't know bout the poop part though, so it's a surprise. Owner and dogs had not spent as much time as they would have wanted to together due to bigger problems in life. But now I think the dogs (of which one has a more serious case of matted fur) are going to be brought to the groomers for a day of pampering.
If I had gone skating for hours, imagine. Them dogs would still be drinking outta their algae-filled water bowls. Eww.
But I will fly back one day with my free ticket worth 900 bucks (it wasn't worth it to use the ticket this time because AirAsia tickets are only RM200). And then, I will skate till my heart's desire is fulfilled. And perhaps I will come home with sore legs and cuts and bruises from falling down too many times but that will be alright.
KL and Kuching lights at night are absolutely gorgeous. They are amazing. Didn't get any good pictures of them because "Please turn off all your electronics". I think that includes the camera? But really, it's wonderful to see all the lights in the whole city and beyond turned on. Shiny and pretty.
Pretty long post there, and dad keeps asking why I'm taking so long.
For May.
When You're Gone by Avril Lavigne (Parodied by me)
Now that you're gone,
I think I'll be happy.
I can have the air con on daily,
And not have one single worry.
But then again,
Now that you're gone,
I can't seem to move on,
Oh, look what you've done!!!
When you packed your bags,
I didn't count all your steps.
How I wish I did,
So I could say I had!!!
When you're gone,
Your tons of chores are piled all over me.
When you're gone,
The dishes get so high, I just can't see.
When you're gone,
The words I need to hear,
"I'll wash them" never seem to appear,
I suffer..
I sorta miss you.
When you were here,
You'd fold all the clothes,
And you lined 'em up too,
I hate the chores that you used to do.
And I hate going
To Food Avenue,
But now without you,
It's the only thing that I get to do.
When you're gone,
I don't get to eat butter chicken rice.
When you're gone,
The two slavedrivers ain't gon' treat me nice.
When you're gone,
I will have no one else,
To tell about my business deals,
And toilet adventures..
I miss you.
